JOBS - EDIT Work Package 7 Coordinator and co-Team Leader, Museum für Naturkunde Berlin (Germany)

The Museum für Naturkunde Berlin (MfN), has an immediate opening for a Coordinator & co-team leader for EDIT’s Work Package 7 ("Applying Taxonomy to Conservation").

The successful applicant will coordinate international teams of taxonomists for inventorying and monitoring the biodiversity of selected protected areas as EDIT ATBI+M pilot sites. This task involves the organization of field work and communication with counterparts and participants, as well as the coordination of data flow and analysis of scientific results for individual ATBI+M sites. Apart from generating new records and biodiversity data for conservation areas, the inventory field work will also aim at developing and testing new techniques, tools, and recording protocols, to which the applicant should be able to make significant contributions. Additional aspects for the coordinator are to foster the cooperation with conservation management and relevant authorities for individual ATBI+M sites, and the close collaboration with other EDIT partner institutions and relevant stakeholders.

As co-team leader the successful applicant is expected to take over parts of the project administration and management, including the preparation of annual work plans, reports and accounts according to the requirements by the European Commission, with support from the financial administration of the MfN. This responsibility includes the use of online administrative reporting tools, as well as participation and active involvement in budgetary and project planning, also in support of the EDIT Network Steering Committee.
Additional responsibilities include the administration and regular updating of the project website(s) and data portal (see: www.atbi.eu), and the promotion of the EDIT ATBI+M concept through presentations at conferences and meetings, and publications. Most tasks and responsibilities are shared among the members of the EDIT WP7 team, which makes effective teamwork an essential element for any applicant.
