Missouri Botanical Garden Press, part of the Science and Conservation Division of the Missouri Botanical Garden, plays a key role in the Garden's mission to discover and share knowledge about plants and their environment. Through the quarterly journals the Annals of the Missouri Botanical Garden and Novon, floras, and other books, including the series Monographs in Systematic Botany from the Missouri Botanical Garden, MBG Press provides an important outlet for the dissemination of botanical research.
Summary of the Position: The Associate Editor participates in the management of journal manuscripts for the two quarterly journals, the Annals of the Missouri Botanical Garden and NOVON, A Journal for Botanical Nomenclature. This begins in assisting the Scientific Editor with the peer review process, includes copy and stylistic editing, and concludes with proof and production aspects for journal articles. This position will also assume responsibilities for editorial and technical preparation and production of book-length projects. Desirable technical skills include graphics (PhotoShop) and/or desktop publishing (InDesign). Bilingual language skills in Spanish are an optional plus.
